JJ Technical Productions Powers the Department of Basic Education's World Book and Copyright Day 2026

Observed globally every year on 23 April — a date chosen by UNESCO to honour the legacies of literary giants including William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes — World Book and Copyright Day celebrates the transformative power of books, reading, and the protection of authors' creative rights. A National Celebration Hosted in the Western Cape
The 2026 national programme was hosted in the Western Cape across two landmark venues:
- Cape Town High School (96 Hatfield Street, Gardens) — hosting the morning learner programme from 08h30
- Centre for the Book, Cape Town (62 Queens Victoria Street) — hosting the formal national celebration from 10h00
The DBE was joined by a distinguished coalition of co-organisers including the National Library of South Africa, Room to Read, the City of Cape Town, Iziko Museums of South Africa, and Book Dash — a line-up that underscored the national significance of this event.
